Opening Weekend

We went up to the Porter Family Cabin this weekend to open it up for the season. I didn't take too many pictures because we were having such a great time. Keegan absolutely loves it up there, and we could barely keep him inside. Needless to say, he played all day and slept great at night.

My little girl even enjoyed it! I love how round her face is. Also, yes, I cut my hair. It was time for a change. The last time my hair was this short was when I was 2 or 3 years old!
Cadence played hard and slept well too.
Keegan loves corn-on-the-cob, and I just think it is hilarious and adorable to watch him eat it.
This one if for Mom & Dad Porter: We sure missed having you there! You can't really tell, but there was a good amount of water in the stream.

Keegan-isms

Keegan has been uncharacteristically grumpy lately, but every once and awhile he does something that just melts my heart. A few days ago we were cuddling in bed after Matt left for work and he had one hand on my cheek and he was looking me straight in the eyes and he said "pretty!" Awwww!
Then, this evening Keegan was saying the bedtime prayer and he was repeating after Matt. Matt was saying "thank you for Mom ... Dad ... Baby ... Grandma ... Grandpa" and then as he was moving on to the next sentence when he added in "Abby" all by himself. Sweet boy!

Rice Cereal!

Cadence had her first taste of rice cereal yesterday, and she loved it! I couldn't get it in her mouth fast enough and she was frustrated that it wouldn't stay in her mouth. We tried again today with the cereal a little thicker and an easier chair to sit in and she did GREAT! Like an ol' pro! (for some reason I can't get the video to post, but I will keep working on it)

SLC Day 3

Church wasn't until 1:30 on Sunday, so we left early and took the long way and saw some more sights.
This statue is in the visitor center near the temple.
Of course, Keegan found a stream to play in. He looked so handsome in his new tie!
Cadence slept most of the time, but she was pretty darn cute doing it!This is the "hidden" mezzanine level in the Conference Center, where Mom and Dad work with their interpreters during General Conference and other church broadcasts.

Because of the timing of church Keegan didn't get his nap, and once again he had been walking all over town, and so he fell asleep around 6pm in Grandmas arms. He was SO tired!
Getting artsy with my pictures.Monday morning we got up, took one more swim to get the wiggles out, and then headed home. This time we drove straight through, the whole 8 hours. We had a WONDERFUL time visiting Grandma and Grandpa in Salt Lake City, and we were sad to leave, but have many wonderful memories. We will be back again in August for a mini-family reunion.

SLC Day 2

On Saturday, Dad had to go into work for a few hours, so the rest of us did some shopping and more sightseeing until he was done. We only brought our one-seater stroller so Keegan had to walk most of the time, but by nap time he was so worn out that he was begging to sit in the stroller actually fell asleep in it (that never happens). During nap time Matt and I went and did a session in the SLC temple, which was very neat. That evening we met up with his cousin Grant and his family for dinner at the Lion House and then walked around and took some more pictures. Temple square is so well groomed. There were gorgeous flowers everywhere!

Cadence got a bath before dinner :)

SLC Day 1

We got up Friday morning and had a relaxing breakfast before heading west to Salt Lake City. The night before I was telling Keegan everything that we were going to see the next day, Grandma and Grandpa Porter, the Temple, pictures of Jesus, etc ... I asked him in the morning if he remembered what we were going to see and he said: "Porter! Grandpa!" "Temple!" "Picture, Jesus" and "Ho, Ho, Ho! Santa!" Not sure where he got the idea that we were going to see Santa, but that sure was cute!!
We got to SLC and started walking around. Matt's folks live just blocks from Temple Square. Keegan was very excited about seeing the temple. As soon as we could snap a picture of him he took off running towards the temple. In the bottom picture you can see how excited he was to touch the temple.
He even got to go up and try the doors ... he was pretty bummed that he couldn't open them up.

Mom and Dad work in the Church office Building which is 26+ stories high. They took us up to the top to see the view.
Their apartment is the large brown building (with the metal things on the roof) in the lower left hand corner of the picture. Almost everything in their lives is in walking distance.
We spent a good amount of time just walking around ...
... and stopping at each of the dozens of fountains around the city.
It was hard to pry Keegan away from the fountains.
We bought Keegan his first tie. When I put it on him he looked at it, and looked at Grandpa's tie, and got very excited that he had a tie just like Grandpa.
Mom and Dad have a great pool and hot tub right across the hall, so we took Cadence for her first dip in the pool.
She didn't mind. (Isn't that the littlest swimsuit you have ever seen?!?)

Roadtrip to SLC

This weekend we went on a road trip to visit Matt's folks in Salt Lake City. We have been trying to go on this trip since the beginning of April, but schedules and illness have kept us from going until now.
The kids did great in the car, Cadence slept most of the way ... (you can see her in the reflection of the mirror)
and Keegan had fun eating snacks and watching movies.
On the way out there we only drove 1/2 of the way so that we could leave after work but not have to drive the whole night. We stopped in Grand Junction and stayed in a hotel. Keegan was SO thrilled with staying in a hotel, and all being in the same room. When we walked into the room, at 10:00pm, he got this HUGE smile on his face and it didn't go away until he was asleep. He was actually so excited that he didn't fall asleep until after 2:00am!!! Ugh!

Keegan's New Trick

This boy cracks me up!
