Mothers Day 2013
(I'm doing a little bit of catching up.)
All I wanted for Mothers Day was to have my car detailed and to be able to sleep in. My amazing husband made sure that happened as well as breakfast in bed.
I sure love these monkeys that call me Mother.

Sheep to Shawl
The kids got to go on another super fun field trip with K's school. It was at a museum where they teach you everything about wool, from the sheep to the shawl.
They started by seeing and touching the sheep before being sheared.
Then they got to see the sheep get her haircut.
And then see what she felt like afterwards.
The next station was to wash and dry the fleece, and then they got to make a picture with their fleece.
C loves Molly and tells me she is her best friend.
Next they got a demonstration of spinning and knitting.
And then finally they got to try their hand a weaving.
K amazes me with the way he learns things. He was about the 4th or 5th kid in line and he listened to the instructions on how to use the loom and then he watched each of the kids in front of him do it, and then when it was his turn he just went ahead and worked the loom like he was a pro!
It has been so much fun being part of K's school activities and field trips and even better that C can tag along and participate too. I really hope she gets into the same program next fall.

Meanwhile, Back in NY
While L and I were in CO the kids had a fun time back in NY. GrandMary had them for 2 days and Matt had them for 5. One thing they did was go to a buddies 2nd birthday party at a local firehouse.
Cady noticed right away that the girl fire-fighter had a pink helmet, and she went to check it out.
What a party!
Back to the house for ice cream and cake.
My extra day in CO allowed them to go to K's art show at school.
The kids had a great time getting individualized attention from Dad. They say that they missed me, but I'm not so sure about that. :-)

Trip to CO
A couple of weeks ago L and Mom went on a trip to CO. The big kids stayed home and spent some time with GrandMary and Dad took a few days off too.
On the plane ride there L did great! He was asleep before we got on the first plane and he slept through the whole 1 hr flight. Below is him wiggling on the floor before our second flight. On the second flight he started fussing shortly after we got on the plane. I could see the passengers around us bracing for a rough flight. In fact, a girl two seats away from me very obviously put in ear plugs. But L quickly fell asleep and slept during takeoff. After about 15min into our flight he woke up and I thought the next 4 hours were going to be miserable. But he looked around for awhile, then pooped. Thankfully there was a changing table in the restroom so we took care of that, and I took the opportunity for some extra leg and elbow room and nursed him in there (sorry to the line of people outside the door) and then we went back to our seat and he slept for the last 3 hours. Whew!
Our trip was to meet our new "cousin" Josie, so Aunt Jess picked us up from the airport and we started our fun baby week! We spent a lot of time catching up on birth stories and how the first few months have been going and swapping mommy tips. We even managed to get some errands done and enjoy a meal or two at a restaurant.
On Sunday Aunt Jodi and Grandma Deb to visit. It was Jodi's first time meeting Josie and Deb's first time meeting Logan.
Deb also gave L his first haircut. Here he is saying "what are you going to do to my hair?!?"
But he did great!!
All done! SO handsome!
After his haircut he needed a bath. I thought he was going to scream at us, like he does at home when he takes a bath instead of a shower, but he did great! Everything was better at Josie's house!
I secretly hope that they get married (they could since they aren't real cousins) just so that I could show this picture at their wedding.
It was so great having the JCrew back together, even if it was just for a few hours.
Sunday afternoon we got to spend time with the Porters.
L got to meet his Aunt Holly,
Cousin Madison,
Aunt Mikki,
And spent some quality time with Grandma and Grandpa and a few others.
After dinner we went into Boulder to visit Great Grandma Porter. I think it is such a treat that I have pictures with her and all three of my children.
Grandma was in rare form and I had such a great time listening to her fun stories and hearing her crack jokes. I may have been slightly slap-happy from lack of sleep, but I hadn't laughed like that in awhile.
More baby time!
"I got your ear!"
Monday afternoon we went over to Grandma and Grandpa Hubers house. It was super snowy so we just stayed in and played together. Uncle Monkey came over to meet L and join us for dinner.
The
drive home from my folks house was AWFUL! What should have taken about
40 min took 2 hours. It was white knuckle driving the whole way and I
never made it out of 2nd or 3rd gear on the highway. Thankfully L slept
through it all otherwise I would have been in tears if he had been screaming.
Sweet baby J!
Wednesday morning we got up bright and early to go to the airport. It had snowed during the night and it was rush hour traffic so we left extra early. We got to the airport and checked in with plenty of time and at that point the weather was just rainy. After we were in ours seats on the plane I heard somebody say something about our flight being delayed an hour, so I checked my phone and sure enough United website was saying that the flight was delayed an hour. Just about the time that everyone had boarded the plane they announced that we had been delayed an hour because of the weather, it was snowing pretty good now. I knew that I had just about an hour layover in Chicago, and also that my family doesn't have the best of luck flying through Chicago, so my very first thought was that I needed to get off the plane fly the next day; I was NOT going to get stuck in Chicago by myself with an infant.
Fortunately they let us of the plane and I immediately went over to customer service where the wonderful woman got me on a flight the next day and not through Chicago. Unfortunately my bags, including the car seat, were already on the plane and they were not going to get them for me. I called my Dad, who works close to the airport, and asked if he would be willing to come get us, but also stop at the store and buy a car seat on the way, and he said of course!!
So we got an extra day in CO. Since we stayed with Jessica my folks were feeling like they hadn't seen us enough and so they were really happy to have us at their house for the extra night.
L was happy not to be on a plane!
The family that used to nanny for stopped by to meet L.
And we got to see Uncle Monkey one more time too.
We flew home on Thursday with just a short delay in the Dulles airport, but nothing to complain about. I am so so so so so so SO thankful that I didn't get on that first flight. It did arrive too late for my connecting flight in Chicago, and because of weather that they had there, there were no other flights to Albany until the following evening. Whew!! In fact my baggage didn't even make it back to me until Friday. Chalking that up to Divine inspiration. :-)
